Mayfair Park Residences
London, UK
A residential development in Mayfair, London, designed to bring contemporary living into dialogue with the historic character of its surroundings.
About
Located just steps from Hyde Park, Mayfair Park Residences is a residential development in the heart of Mayfair that transforms a complex urban block into a new model of contemporary city living. The site has a dual aspect, with Grade II listed Georgian façades addressing Stanhope Gate to the north and a more fragmented and compromised frontage facing Curzon Street to the south. This duality became central to the architectural concept, shaping a project that responds differently to each side while maintaining a coherent overall identity.
Rather than treat contemporary architecture as secondary to heritage, the design sets out to bring old and new into a more equal and carefully balanced relationship. On Stanhope Gate, the listed façades are restored and extended to reinforce the dignity and character of the historic streetscape. On Curzon Street, a more contemporary architectural expression redefines the frontage through sculpted form, depth and material contrast, giving the building a stronger presence within the city.
The architecture is shaped around a series of framed views, thresholds and moments of reveal. Along Curzon Street, a fissure is introduced into the frontage to open up views towards Hyde Park and back into Mayfair and Westminster, creating a more theatrical relationship between the building and the city beyond. This idea of layering and reveal continues into the façade treatment, where deep-set openings, faceted planes, sculptural indents and finely detailed metalwork create a rich and carefully choreographed exterior expression.
Materiality plays a central role in reinforcing the building’s dual character. Contrasting black and white stone are paired with green and grey metal detailing to create a façade language that feels both composed and expressive. This sense of duality continues into the internal organisation, where the apartments are arranged to distinguish between public and private zones, echoing the spatial hierarchy of grand historic residences while supporting a more contemporary mode of living.
The project re-establishes the site as a residential address of stature within Mayfair, bringing together restoration, contemporary design and carefully framed urban experience within one of London’s most sensitive and prestigious settings.

“The architecture is shaped by a dialogue between restoration and reinvention, allowing old and new to exist in careful balance.”

Two architectural characters
The project responds differently to its two street frontages, restoring the listed Georgian façades on Stanhope Gate while introducing a more contemporary architectural expression on Curzon Street. Together, these contrasting responses create a building shaped by both continuity and reinvention.
