About

Located on Chiltern Street in the heart of Marylebone, Chiltern Place replaces an outdated 1960s tower with a new 15-storey residential building designed to respond more closely to the scale, materiality and character of its surroundings. Developed for Ronson Capital Partners, the project brings together 55 apartments, retail and a new townhouse on a sensitive site beside Paddington Street Gardens.

The design reworks the original building’s massing to create a more balanced and proportionate form within the local townscape. A façade of hand-set terracotta tiles is articulated through generous bays and balconies, giving the building depth, rhythm and a stronger relationship to the surrounding streets. Three additional upper levels help define the building’s skyline presence while remaining sympathetic to its context.

At ground level, the surrounding public realm has been reconfigured to complement recent improvements along Chiltern Street itself. A new townhouse also helps repair a blank flank condition left by earlier redevelopment, allowing the project to contribute more positively to the street and its wider setting.

Crafted façade

A façade of hand-set terracotta tiles gives the building depth, rhythm and a more tactile presence within the street. Generous bays and balconies help break down the massing, creating a residential expression that responds more closely to the scale and character of Marylebone.

A carefully reworked residential building that responds to the scale, materiality and character of Marylebone. Its façade and massing bring a more balanced and enduring presence to Chiltern Street.

Redefining the street

At ground level, the project helps repair a difficult urban condition left by the previous building. A new townhouse and reconfigured public realm strengthen the street edge and allow the development to contribute more positively to Chiltern Street and its wider setting.
