About

Ryan Kingsnorth is recognised for his expertise in high‑performance façades and complex building envelopes and interiors, translating ambitious design intent into sustainable, buildable architecture. As a Director at PLP Architecture, he plays a key role in large‑scale projects from design through to delivery. His work spans mixed‑use, commercial and cultural projects across the UK and Asia.

Ryan has been instrumental in PLP Architecture’s overseas projects, particularly in Japan, where he has worked on a number of high-profile commercial, residential and mixed-use developments in the heart of Tokyo. Most recently, he provided design leadership for the Tokyo Cross Park Vision, a 6.5-hectare site connected to Hibiya Park. The project brings together four mixed-use towers incorporating retail, co-working and event spaces, alongside an extensive public realm, totalling 1.1 million sqm of development. Through this work, and other projects across central Tokyo, Ryan has developed strong expertise in delivering complex mixed-use architecture within dense international urban environments.

In London, Ryan is a core member of the design team for Bankside Yards, the UK’s first fossil‑fuel‑free major mixed‑use masterplan on the South Bank, contributing to the design of the masterplan and multiple buildings including the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Opus. As part of the same master plan, Ryan was part of the senior team designing Arbor, a 223,000 sq ft office building featuring a Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) that maximises daylight and energy efficiency while integrating roof gardens and terrace spaces. The building achieved a BREEAM Excellent and WELL Platinum certification. His wider London experience also includes work on One Embassy Gardens that delivered a prominent office building for Penguin Random House along the Linear Park in Nine Elms.
