About

A strategic thinker and skilled designer, Dr. Marta Gonzalez-Ruiz specialises in creating people‑centred, future‑oriented and environmentally responsible places. As a Partner at PLP Architecture, she leads complex masterplanning and mixed‑use projects using qualitative and data‑driven design approaches. She is also a Board Member of the Council of Vertical Urbanism and the Future Leaders Committee, UK. Her work spans commercial, residential and mixed‑use and masterplans across Europe, London, Asia and the Middle East.

In Japan, she contributed to the masterplan vision for Tokyo Cross Park, a life‑centric urban district integrating mixed uses with expansive public realm and green infrastructure. In the Middle East, she has played a leading role in large‑scale masterplans across Saudi Arabia, including schemes in Riyadh and Jeddah focused on community, mobility and long‑term resilience. In India, she was part the design of Krea University, a pioneering academic campus.

In London, she led the vision and development of Old Oak Park at Old Oak Common, regenerating the former Cargiant site and navigating significant infrastructure constraints. She also worked on Transport for London’s Hounslow East, developing a residential‑led scheme above a live bus station and depot to deliver a new, integrated urban community. In the UK, Marta has played a key role in the repositioning of Alderley Park, transforming a former suburban office park into a contemporary life‑sciences campus through adaptive reuse, landscape‑led public spaces and a strong focus on wellbeing and sustainability.
