PLP’s project The Edge in Amsterdam wins two BREEAM Awards in the New Build Offices and the Public Vote Categories

Last night, our project The Edge in Amsterdam won two BREEAM Awards, presented by the Building Research Establishment under their sustainable building metric system BREEAM, in the categories Offices - New Construction and the public vote prize Your BREEAM.

When it was completed last year, The Edge received the highest BREEAM rating ever given to an office building by the BRE for its outstanding environmental performance. From its inception, numerous features of the building were designed to promote good energy performance and reduction in energy and water usage.  Amongst other features, a mobile phone application allows employees to monitor their energy use, and solar panels on the roof provide electricity for charging laptops, mobile phones and electric cars.

These are just two of the many aspects of the building’s design that contributed to its exceptional BREEAM rating. In addition to being one of the world’s most sustainable buildings, The Edge is also one of its smartest, integrating numerous sensors as well as flexible working spaces to support activity based working.
