Thomas McKinney Hardin is a Senior Associate Partner at PLP Architecture, having previously gained experience working at architectural practices in Houston,Texas.

As a young designer, Thomas has gained considerable experience working on transportation, headquarters, hospitality and mixed-use projects in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and China, often from the early competition or feasibility stages through to the submission of planning submission.

Thomas’s masterplan and mixed-use experience, from his time at KPF, includes projects such as Dewar Place Masterplan (Exchange 2) in Edinburgh; the White City Masterplan competition in London, Milan Varesine – a large-scale urban regeneration programme in Milan; and a new 450ha urban masterplan in the Middle East – a development which will create a number of new communities with residential, commercial, cultural, educational and recreational facilities.

One of his most notable urban planning projects is the Victoria Transport Interchange masterplan which in 2009 achieved planning consent to comprehensively redevelop 2.5 hectares of land around Victoria Station. This masterplan will transform one of London’s busiest intermodal transport hubs, reconnecting it with its surroundings and creating a modern gateway to Central London and a destination in its own right. He is currently coordinating the facade design packages on the UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation (UKCMRI), a project to create a new world class scientific research building in the heart of Central London.

Thomas studied architecture at Rice University, Houston, Texas where he earned his Bachelor of Art in Architecture degree, subsequently completing his Bachelor of Architecture program.
