Cindy Lau is a director at PLP Architecture. She is a UK registered architect with experience covering sectors including commercial office, residential, hotel, mixed use and master planning in the UK and Hong Kong. Cindy’s extensive project experiences range from design inception, technical coordination, project administration and project delivery.
Cindy is currently leading a team delivering the interiors of a new headquarters for a large media client in London, which creates a flexible workplace for circa 3,500 employees, with a state of the art auditorium, multiple food & beverage outlets and broadcasting facilities. She is also the project architect for Hung Luen Road in Hong Kong where PLP is responsible for the building and façade design. This mixed use development in Hong Kong is on a prominent waterfront site, comprises of two office towers and two retail blocks. The development is anticipated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Prior to this, her experience in PLP ranges from design inception, detailed development and the delivery of planning applications in both office and residential sector in London – Key projects include Crossrail over site development in central London, private residential development such as Rathbone Place, Carey Street and Curzon Street. Each of these projects involved testing a variety of development strategies as well as integrating new build elements into a historic urban fabric. Her other key projects include renovation projects such as Page Street in Victoria, which was completed in 2013.
During her previous employment at KPF, Cindy was involved in the design and delivery of Two Kingdom Street, an office development in Paddington Central, London which was completed in 2010. Other projects include successful planning applications for Crown Place office development and the Vincent Square residential development in London; masterplan for a hotel and office park at Al Ain, Abu Dhabi; the Royal Mail Masterplan Framework bid which ranked first out of 60 submissions; as well as preparation of design proposals for Oxford University and St. Andrew’s University.
Cindy achieved her Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree (B.A.S.) and her Bachelor of Architecture degree with First Class Honours (B.Arch. (Hons) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and was awarded Senior Prize in the same year. Her Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) was achieved at the Architectural Association in London. She completed her RIBA Part III studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London.
Cindy is a RIBA Chartered member, ARB registered architect, and a licensed BRE Code of Sustainable Homes Assessor.
