Celia is a Senior Associate Partner at PLP Architecture with more than 10 years’ experience across a range of sectors including masterplans, high rise buildings and large scale mixed use projects in China. Celia is currently working on a commercial office masterplan in Shanghai’s Hongqiao CBD and on transforming a former factory in Nanjing into a new mixed use quarter. Celia has previously worked on two of PLP’s largest projects, both currently under construction, in Foshan, China and in Kuwait. Both projects combine a retail podium and shopping centre with landmark office towers, as well as a pair of commercial towers in Hangzhou which are near to completion.
Celia is a LEED AP accredited professional (BD+C) with extensive knowledge and application of sustainability tools to assist environmental solutions. She is also a core member of the Computational Group at PLP and has a particular interest in the role of digital technologies in the governance of large-scale projects and how tools such as Bentley systems, environmental analysis, Building Information Modelling (BIM) assist in the long term sustainable management of buildings.
Celia is also WELL AP accredited professional which signifies knowledge in human health and wellness in the built environment, and specialization in the WELL Building Standard. The WELL Building Standard marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based health and wellness interventions. It harnesses the built environment as a vehicle to support human health, well-being and comfort.
Prior to joining PLP, Celia worked at Foster + Partners for seven years, during which time she was involved in numerous masterplans in Asia and in the Middle East, the competition for the New Beijing International Airport, a public realm project in Lusail, a 58 storey mixed-use high-rise in Kuala Lumpur, a large mixed used development in downtown Singapore and a 600m tall city tower in Moscow. Prior to that, Celia worked at various Local Design Institutes in China on a variety of educational and residential projects.
Celia received her Diploma in Architectural Engineering and her Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture, from Guangdong University of Technology in China; her Master of Architecture in Architectural Design from the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London, and her Part III Diploma in Professional Practice from the University of Westminster in London. Celia is a registered architect in the UK, and speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka fluently.
