Miguel is an Associate Partner at PLP Architecture, and a registered architect with extensive experience on a wide range of projects for high-profile practises in London, Spain and Italy. In addition to leading the construction of the Technology Transfer Building Atrium at Imperial West on behalf of Imperial College London and Voreda, he is currently leading the facade design of a 34 storey residential tower, part of the same campus in West London.
Prior to joining PLP, Miguel worked at Foster & Partners, Grimshaw, John McAslan, Jestico and Whiles, and Austin-Smith:Lord, among others. His experience includes the construction of the fit-out of the restaurants and viewing galleries at the Shard, and the respective coordination with the Renzo Piano design team; the cladding design of a social housing project in Gray’s Inn; the West Silvertown and Pontoon Dock DLR stations; the Tower Place office building opposite Tower Bridge; the detail design of an office building in St James’ Square; and the design and construction of Pegasus Place, an office development near Gatwick Airport. Along with the detail design and production information for the cladding of a 5-star 116 room hotel at Lingfield Park Racecourse and Golf Club, and the design development of Curragh Racecourse grandstand, Miguel has completed design proposals for the London 2012 temporary basketball and fencing arenas and a state-of-the-art sustainable office building for Brent Civic Centre, adjacent to Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena.
Further afield, Miguel has been responsible for the design of a 500-seat theatre, as part of a Performance Suite complex for the Qasar Al Hosn Cultural Centre in Abu Dhabi; a masterplan for a headquarters building for the fashion house Vestebene in Italy; the design and construction of Marcon library near Venice; the design of the Hamburg Congress Centre; preliminary designs for an office building in Warsaw and for the new Pratt Gran sports pavilion in Andorra. Design competitions include the residential conversion of the industrial zone in Poble Nou; an international masterplan competition for the regeneration of the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; a new technical high school in Bitterfield, Berlin and an international competition for Alrafi Tower, a mixed-use skyscraper in Dubai, which includes residential, office and retail elements.
